The goats are growing like weeds.   We finally castrated SunFire, poor little guy.  Amazingly he is still a very friendly goat.  He will  be filling the gaps in our freezer soon, unless he finds a nice pet home.  I think he is going to be a nice, big fancy looking fellow.  I would love to see him trained to a cart, what a statement he would make in a parade!!

Fall has passed us by without much warning.  Although the wea...

....projects.   And LOTS of them.  Let's start by skipping over the obvious - dishes, laundry, sweeping, etc.

Where has the time gone? Where did summer go for that matter?  Tonight they are predicting temps down to 20 degrees. We've already had a few frosty nights, which subsequently killed off all my peppers and a large amount of the tomatoes.  Alas, one more unfinished project....canning and drying hot peppers.  I will have to say that of...

And then the rest of the day.

Breakfast this morning consists of cucumbers and tomatoes (from our garden), mixed with my first attempt at homemade mozzarella (not too bad really), topped with homemade pesto (made with basil and parsley from our garden).   Not a bad breakfast if I may say so.  Only problem will be the intense garlic breath while I'm in town today. Rainy day outside, time to kick back and relax.  Well, at least for a moment while I blog.  Then it's off deal with laundry (the perfect rainy day chore at our house).

Well, hooves are trimmed again.  I'm trying to decide if one goat I have has an actual "bad foot" or if it is a combination of prior poor care and my inexperience. Although I am seeing improvement, so I hope that does mean I'm learning and that she is not a lost cause.   Otherwise...

Well, here we are another day and pretty much the same thing as yesterday, which was the same as the day before which was...well you get the picture.   Now don't get me wrong there is absolutely nothing wrong wth having a nice routine going.  As a matter of fact, it's wonderful, just ask the goats.

Since my last blog our remaining two does finally gave birth.  Penny had a set of absolutely beautifully marked and fast growing  triplets (a bucklin...

Miscellaneous Monday

Well, as usual lots going on.

Spent almost all day yesterday canning some jams, jellies and sauces.  Specifically: Dandelion jelly, Strawberry/Cherry/Serrano pepper sauce, Rhubarb bbq sauce (both"regular" and "spicy"), cherry jam, strawberry/jalapeno jelly and rhubarb/cinnamon jelly.  All of it turned out tasty, but I'm afraid I'm having a problem with everything but the cherry jam setting.  I'm thinking I'll leave the Serrano and Jalapeno as more of a dipping/mari...
