Yep, that's right, I'm in love with a tomato. Yellow Mortgage Lifters to be specific. I've never met such a delicious tomato. So full of tomato "meat" (what is it REALLY called?) and so little of the seedy pulp. It's almost as delightful as biting into a ripe juicy apple. Add together the amazing size, fullfulling meatiness, attractive yellow color and scrumptious taste and well, what's NOT to love?

Well, it started out with a mite infestation of a couple of my goats EARLY spring this year. Got that all taken care of - whew!!
Then in April or May we had an infestation of "love bugs" . Not very strong fliers and are nectar eaters so they didn't do real damage to any of our trees or plants. However, they were here in such huge quantities that it made it just plain uncomfortable to even go outside.

And then the rest of the day.
Breakfast this morning consists of cucumbers and tomatoes (from our garden), mixed with my first attempt at homemade mozzarella (not too bad really), topped with homemade pesto (made with basil and parsley from our garden). Not a bad breakfast if I may say so. Only problem will be the intense garlic breath while I'm in town today. Ah, well - still worth it.

Well, as usual lots going on.
Spent almost all day yesterday canning some jams, jellies and sauces. Specifically: Dandelion jelly, Strawberry/Cherry/Serrano pepper sauce, Rhubarb bbq sauce (both"regular" and "spicy"), cherry jam, strawberry/jalapeno jelly and rhubarb/cinnamon jelly. All of it turned out tasty, but I'm afraid I'm having a problem with everything but the cherry jam setting. I'm thinking I'll leave the Serrano and Jalapeno as more of a dipping/mari...
